Option 3 : Symmetry and fraction
In Mathematics, symmetry means that one shape is identical to the other shape when it is moved, rotated, or flipped. The concept of symmetry is commonly found in geometry.
In mathematics, a fraction is a number that represents a part of a whole. It consists of a numerator and a denominator. The numerator represents the number of equal parts of a whole, while the denominator is the total number of parts that make up said whole.
- In the above example, the teacher folds a square sheet of paper into half and punches a hole in the folded sheet of paper, and then unfolds the paper.
- Here since the teacher has folded the paper into half the concept of a fraction can be clearly taught as half of the paper is folded so the paper can be divided into two parts and one part is taken from them as the numerator.
- In the same way, the concept of symmetry can also be taught because the teacher has punched holes in the folded sheet of paper when she opens the paper the hole will be there on both sides of the folded paper.
Hence the topics of Symmetry and fraction can be taught by using folded, punched paper.
