- There are six types of joints :
1) Ball and socket joint 2) Pivotal joint 3) Hinge joint 4) Gliding joint 5) Saddle joint 6) Fixed joint
- Saddle joints are those which allow movement in two planes. E.g. Joint of the thumb.
- Ellipsoid joints are those which allow movement in two planes i.e. back and front and side to side. E.g. joint in wrists.
- The bones of birds are hollow and the forelimbs are modified to form wings.
