Concept:
- Measles is an acute viral respiratory illness.
- Characterized by -> Malaise, Cough, Coryza, and Conjunctivitis
- SSPE = Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis is one of the progressive, disabling, and deadly brain disorders related to measles (rubeola) infection. This disease develops many years after the measles infection.
- Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis is mainly caused by a measles virus known as paramyxovirus. This slow virus attack may stay dormant in humans for extended periods of time, then for reasons yet unknown may become reactivated.
- Treatment includes - Apparently there are no direct treatment modalities for SSPE antiviral drugs are used to control the symptoms.
Symptoms:-

- irritability
- seizures
- involuntary muscle movements
- behavioral changes
- neurological deterioration.
Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis is mainly a progressive neurological disorder characterized by inflammation of the brain (encephalitis). The disease may develop mainly due to the reactivation of the measles virus or an inappropriate immune response to the measles virus.
