Solution: The correct answer is option 2 i.e. Kanchan.
The Arjun main battle tank uses indigenously developed Kanchan armour. Kanchan Armour is developed by the Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL), Telangana.
- The design of the armour began in the 1980s.
- It has a composition of ceramic, aluminium oxide, fibreglass and some other such materials.
- It has two thickness plates i.e. a 350 millimetres (14 in) plate and a 315 millimetres (12.4 in) for protection.
- Arjun is India's first homemade battle tank.

- Development began in 1972, and in 1996, mass production began.

- Arjun Mk.1A: An improved version of the original variant. It weighs 68 tonnes and has a computerized fire control system, thermal imaging, night vision and has anti-infrared / anti-thermal imaging paints.
- Bhim SPH: The South African G5 howitzer is attached to the Arjun chassis. The howitzer is made by the company Denel.
- 130 mm Catapult: The DRDO made 130 mm M-46 Catapult self-propelled gun is fitted on Arjun chassis.
- Bridge Layer Tank: It is a combat support vehicle fitted on the Arjun chassis. It is used to deploy tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles across gap-type obstacles.
- Armoured Engineering Vehicle: Based on the Arjun chassis, it is used for the construction work for the transportation of combat engineers on the battlefield.
- In 2012, the Arjun Mk II variant began trials.
- The Israeli companies, Elbit and Israel Military Industries are helping the DRDO in its manufacture.
- In 2014, 118 tanks were ordered.
- In 2020, it was announced by the Indian government that this variant will enter service in 2026-27.
