Option 2 : 4·75 mm and 75 μ

Concept

Aggregates are one of the most important materials used in construction.

If aggregate remain on 4.75 mm sieve then they are called coarse aggregates.

i.e. Coarse aggregate > 4,75 mm

If aggregates pass through 4.745 mm grade and retain on 75-micron sieve then they are called fine aggregates.

i.e. Fine aggregate < 4.75 mm

Note: For RCC work, the maximum size of aggregate is limited to 20 - 25 mm
