Option 2 : Venus
Even though Mercury is closer to the sun, it’s not the hottest planet. Instead Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system because it is covered by a thick layer of clouds composed of carbon dioxide and other gases, which prevent the heat from the sun from escaping back into the outer space. While Mercury is not as hot as Venus because it has a very thin layer of atmosphere, so it is unable to hold and trap the heat on its surface and thus any heat that Mercury receives from the sun is quickly reflected back.
