‘Did’ is the auxiliary verb which is a past tense of ‘do’. The main verb following ‘did’ should not be in the past. It should be in its base form.
E.G. Whom did you meet at the restaurant.
However, as in the given case, in a sentence where the main verb can be used in the past tense form, the auxiliary verb ‘did’ need not be written at all. Therefore, the sentence should be correctly written as: Over the years, our trainers helped students to clear the language tests for various countries.
Here the error lies in the second part of the sentence and option 2 is the correct answer.
