Option 3 : Of a mid-week holiday

The definite article ‘the’ refers to some specific object or some specific person.  An indefinite article ‘a’ and ‘an’ refers to a non-specific object or person.  Both articles must be followed by a noun or an adjective and a noun.

While ‘the’ can be used for singular or plural nouns, ‘a’ and ‘an’ are used only for singular nouns.

Thus, in the above sentence, the bracketed part of the sentence can be improved by replacing it with option 3, i.e., ‘Of a mid-week holiday’ because holiday is mentioned in the sentence making it singular.
