Option 1 : 1 only

Since x and y are two odd integers, their squares will be odd always and sum of two odd numbers is always even.

⇒ Statement 1 is correct.

Suppose x = 1 and y = 3

⇒ x² + y²= 1 + 9 = 10

It is even but not divisible by 4.

∴ Only statement 1 is correct.
