The McMahon Line, which sets the boundary between India and China, is drawn to the northern boundary of Arunachal Pradesh.

  • The McMahon Line is the effective borderline between the North-east region of Indiaand Tibetan region of China.
  • It separates Arunachal Pradesh from Tibet.
  • It was named after Sir Henry McMahon, the then foreign secretary of British India, who was also the chief negotiator at the 1914 Simla Convention.
  • The McMahon line extends for 890 km from Bhutan in the West to 260 km east of the great bend of the Brahmaputra in the east along the crest of the Himalayas.
