Alluvial soils
|
- It is a fine-grained fertile soil deposited by water flowing over flood plains or in river beds.
- Nitrogen is generally low, but potash, phosphoric acid, and alkalis are adequate.

|
Black soils
|
- Chemically, the black soils are rich in lime,
iron, magnesia and alumina.
- They also contain potash.
- But they lack phosphorous, nitrogen, and organic matter.
- The colour of the soil ranges from deep black to grey.

Laterite soils
|
- Laterite is a soil and rock type rich in iron and aluminium and is commonly considered to have formed in hot and wet tropical areas.
- Nearly all laterites are of rusty-red colouration, because of high iron oxide content.
- Laterite soils are rich in iron and aluminium but deficient in nitrogen and potassium.
