• Union Government aims to achieve the objective of Housing for All by 2022 under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Grameen.
• A total of over one crore 50 lakh rural houses have been completed in the last five years.
• The eligible beneficiaries will get one crore 95 lakh houses in the second phase of the scheme. Government has set a target of 60 lakh houses for the current financial year.
• The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) has been devised in line with the Government’s commitment to provide ‘Housing for All’ by 2022 in the rural areas.
• The scheme aims at providing a pucca house with basic amenities to all houseless householder living in kutcha and dilapidated houses by 2022.
