A shopkeeper has three types of oil A, B and C. The average quantity of three types of oil is 36 litres. Type A oil is 10 litres more than type C oil, which is 7 litres more than type B oil. If the costs of type A, B and C oil are Rs.6 per litre, Rs.15 per litre and Rs.12 per litre, then find the average cost of the three types of oil?

Option 3 : Rs. 10.28 per litre

Given that,

(A + B + C)/3 = 36

A + B + C = 108 ---- (1)

A – C = 10

C = A – 10 ---- (2)

And, C – B = 7

B = C – 7 = A – 10 – 7

B = A – 17 ---- (3)

From equations (1), (2) and (3):

A + A – 17 + A – 10 = 108

3A = 135

A = 45 litres, B = 45 – 17 = 28 litres and C = 45 – 10 = 35 litres

Now, the average cost of the mixture:

/(45 + 28 + 35)

⇒ /108 = Rs.10.28 per litre (approx)
