- It is a process by which green plants transform light energy into chemical energy. water, light, and carbon dioxide are absorbed by a plant to produce oxygen, sugars, and more carbon dioxide. Hence statement 1 is correct.
Fermentation
- It is an anaerobic metabolic process in which glucose is partially oxidized to form acids and alcohol. The pyruvic acid formed by partial oxidation of glucose is converted to ethanol and carbon oxide. Hence statement 2 is correct.

Types of fermentation-
- On the basis of product formation-
  - Homo fermentation- only one type of product forms.
  - Hetero fermentation- more than one type of product forms.
