Total Number of Employees = 3400 The ratio of the number of male and female employees working in office A is 5 ∶ 6 and 50% of the employees in office E are females. Let a be the ratio of the number of male employees in A to that of the female employees in E and b be the ratio of the number of male employees in E to that of the female employees in A. What is the ratio a ∶ b?

Calculation:

Number of employees in office A = (79.2/360) × 3400

⇒ 748

Number of males in office A = 748 × (5/11)

⇒ 340

Number of females in office A = 748 × (6/11) 

⇒ 408

Now, Number of employees in office E = 612

Number of males in office E = 612 ÷ 2 = 306

Number of females in office E = 612 ÷ 2 = 306

Now, According to the question

The value of a = Male emp. of A/ Female emp. of E

⇒ a = 340/306 

And, The value of B = Male emp. of E/ Female emp. of A

⇒ b = 306/408

Now, We have to find a : b

So, a : b = 340/306 :  306/408

⇒ a : b = 340/306 × 408/306

⇒ a : b = 40 ∶ 27

∴ The required ratio is 40 ∶ 27.
