Option 2 : 73.33

Let the average marks of the failed student be x.

Total students = 140

The number of students who failed = 90

∴ The number of students who passed = 140 - 90 = 50

According to problem,

⇒ 90x + 50 × 120 = 140 × 90

⇒ 90x + 6000 = 12600

⇒ x = 73.33

∴ The average marks of student who failed = 73.33
