Given:

Average age of the group = 28 years

Age of the replaced person = 28 years

Formula:

Average = Sum of observations/Number of observations

Calculation:

Initial sum of age of 8 persons = 28 × 8 = 224

Initial age of 7 persons = (224 – 28) years

⇒ 196 years

New sum of 8 persons after replacement = 30 × 8

⇒ 240 years

New person's age = (240 – 196) years

⇒ 44 years

∴ The age of the new person is 44 years
