Ramu got 11^nd rank from top and Naveen got 18^th rank from the bottom

On combining the statements, we get,

(Left end is taken on the top and right end are taken on the bottom)

The number of students passed in the class are 16 + 18 – 1 = 33

Given ratio between pass and fail is 3 : 1

33 → 3

11 → 1

Now total number of students are pass + fail = 33 + 11 = 44

Hence, 44 is the correct answer.
