খরা বেশি দেখা যায় বাংলাদেশের উত্তরাঞ্চলের জেলাগুলোতে যেমন : দিনাজপুর, রংপুর, বগুড়া, রাজশাহী ইত্যাদি অঞ্চলে। বাংলাদেশের উত্তর- পশ্চিমাঞ্চলে দীর্ঘকাল ধরে শুষ্ক আবহাওয়া এবং অপর্যাপ্ত বৃষ্টিপাত ও অল্প সংখ্যক নদী থাকার কারণে এসব অঞ্চলে খরা বেশি দেখা দেয়।
