Mechanism of Action

Tinobac IM Injection 2 gm/vial works by inhibiting the growth of Gram-negative bacteria. It binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit and prevents protein synthesis. This interferes with the ability of the bacteria to replicate, leading to cell death.

How Long Does it Take To Work?

It usually takes around 1-5 days for spectinomycin to start working. This depends on the type and severity of the infection.

Absorption

Tinobac IM Injection 2 gm/vial is not orally bioavailable and must be given intramuscularly.

Route of Elimination

Tinobac IM Injection 2 gm/vial is eliminated mainly through the kidneys, with some being eliminated through the biliary system. It is not metabolized by the liver.

Dosage

Adults (Men and Women): Inject 5 ml intramuscularly for a 2 gm dose.This is also the recommended dose for patients being treated after failure of previous antibiotic therapy.

Intramuscular injections should be made deep into the upper outer quadrant of the gluteal muscle.

Pediatric Use: Safety and effectiveness in the pediatric population have not been established.

The usual dose for adults is 1,000mg by deep intramuscular injection every 12 hours for a total of five days. For children, the dose is proportional to their weight (usually 5-10 mg/kg).
