Absorption

Moxifloxacin hydrochloride is rapidly and completely absorbed after oral administration. The time to reach peak plasma concentration (Cmax) is approximately 2 hours and the bioavailability is approximately 90%. When combined with xanthan gum, the absorption rate of the moxifloxacin is slightly increased.

Route of Elimination

Moxifloxacin hydrochloride is eliminated mainly by renal excretion. More than 90% of a single dose is eliminated unchanged in the urine within 24 hours. Xanthan gum is not absorbed and is eliminated mainly by the feces.

Dosage

One drop in the affected eye(s) 2 times daily for 7 days.
