Mechanism of Action

Lortis Tablet 4 mg works by blocking the action of certain enzymes in the joints and muscles, which are responsible for inflammation and pain. This prevents the production of compounds that cause pain and inflammation.

How Long Does It Take to Work?

The effects of lornoxicam may take up to one hour to become noticeable. However, the maximum effect can take 1-2 days to appear.

Absorption

Lortis Tablet 4 mg is well absorbed following oral administration with an average bioavailability of 80%. It is highly protein bound and has an elimination half-life of about 10 hours.

Route of Elimination

Lortis Tablet 4 mg is eliminated mainly through the kidneys. It is excreted as unchanged drug or as metabolites in urine.

Dosage

The usual adult daily dose for the treatment of mild to moderate pain is 4 to 8mg divided into two or three doses. The maximum daily dose is 16mg. The dose for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis is 8 to 12mg per day in divided doses. In elderly and patients with renal impairment, the dosage should be reduced.
