Amlex Oral Paste 5% Introduction

Amlex Oral Paste 5% is an anti-inflammatory drug with potential anti-allergic and anti-asthma activity. It is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as an oral drug in both an enteric coating for long-term treatment of allergic rhinitis (seasonal and perennial) and a topical spray for relief of the symptoms of mild to moderate allergic rhinitis.

Uses for Amlex Oral Paste 5%

Amlex Oral Paste 5% is mainly used to treat allergic rhinitis, both seasonal and perennial. It is also used as an adjunct to other therapies for asthma. Amlex Oral Paste 5% has also shown promise in the treatment of certain types of asthma, such as mild intermittent and mild persistent asthma.

Mechanism of action

The exact mechanism of action of Amlex Oral Paste 5% is unknown; however, it is believed to have anti-inflammatory properties. Amlex Oral Paste 5% inhibits the release of histamine and other inflammatory mediators from mast cells and eosinophils. It may also inhibit the binding of leukotrienes to their receptors. As a result, it can reduce mucus secretion and swelling in the nasal passages, and improve airway flow and breathing.

How long does it take to work?

Amlex Oral Paste 5% typically begins to work within 30-60 minutes after administration. The effects of the drug can last for up to 24 hours.

Absorption

When administered in the form of a tablet, Amlex Oral Paste 5% is rapidly and completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. The peak plasma concentration of the drug typically occurs 30 minutes after ingestion.

Route of elimination

Amlex Oral Paste 5% is eliminated mainly through the kidneys, and very little of it is eliminated through the liver.

Dosage

Apply the paste as soon as possible after noticing the symptoms of an aphthous ulcer. Continue to use the paste four times daily, preferably following oral hygiene after breakfast, lunch, dinner, and at bedtime.
Dry the ulcer(s) by gently patting it with a soft, clean cloth.
Wash hands before applying.
Moisten the tip of the index finger.
Squeeze a dab of paste approximately ¼ inch (0.5 cm) onto a fingertip.
Gently dab the paste onto the ulcer. Repeat the process if more than one ulcer are present.
Wash hands after application.
Wash eyes promptly if they should come in contact with the paste.
Use the paste until the ulcer heals. If significant healing or pain relief has not occurred in 10 days, consultation with the physician is required.

The dosage of Amlex Oral Paste 5% is dependent on the condition being treated and should be adjusted as needed by a medical professional. In general, adults may take between 4 mg and 8 mg, two to four times daily, depending on the severity of the condition. For children, the dose should be reduced to 2 mg two times per day. Administration
