If karim's age is x, then Rahim's age will be 3x. According to question , 3x = 12 ∴ x = 4 after y years, Rahim's age will be doubled than Karim. ∴ 12 + y = 2 (4 + y) ⇒y = 4 at the time, Rahim's age  =  3x  +  y  = 3 × 4 + 4 = 16
