On the following image, two equal circles are cut out of a rectangle of card of dimension 16 by 8. The circles have the maximum diameter possible. What is the approximate area of the paper remaining after the circle have been cut out?
On the following image, two equal circles are cut out of a rectangle of card of dimension 16 by 8. The circles have the maximum diameter possible. What is the approximate area of the paper remaining after the circle have been cut out? Correct Answer 27
Hence the radius of the each circle is (162×2) = 4 So, area of the two circles is 2π(4)2 = 100.5312 square unit area of the rectangle is 128 square unit So, remaining area is (128 - 100.5312) = 27.4688 square unit = 27 square unit
