Let the total number of peacocks be x and total number of horses be y. Then the total number of heads = x + y = 90 …… (i) And the total number of legs = 2x + 4y = 290 …… (ii) Solving (i) and (ii), we get, y = 55 and x = 35. Hence, the number of horses in the zoo is 55.
