A retailer buys a Panjabi and a Fatua jointly at Tk. 500. If he sells the Fatua at 10% profit and the panjabi at 5% loss , then he gets, Tk. 520 as total sales price. What is the cost price of the Fatua?
A
Tk. 150
B
Tk. 200
C
Tk. 280
D
Tk. 300
Correct Answer: Tk. 300
Let the cost price of the Fatua and the Panjabi be F and (500 - F) respectively. Now, total sales price, F + 10% of F + (500 - F) - 5% of (500 - F) = 520 or, F + 10/100 F + 500 - F - 5/100 of 500 + 5/100 of F = 520 or, F/10 + F/20 = 520 + 25 - 500 or, 3F/20 = 45 or, F = 45 x 20 / 3 = 300 TK
